The first and foremost thing is be not anxious, be not afraid.
In my continuing arriving in the fearful, new world of post 9/11, post destruction of New Orleans, post fiasco in Iraq, pre-fiasco in Iran and North Korea – America, I can not help but to notice the whole new level of collective and personal fear, anxiety, delusion, neurosis and psychosis.
It manifests in extreme anxiety about food. There are: dark, nefarious narratives of 9/11 conspiracy; accounts of being abducted and corn-holed by grey aliens from outer space; fears about being invaded and over-run by undocumented aliens from Central America; anxieties about the breakdown of society and law and order when the gasoline runs out; anxieties about personal and collective economic existence.
Of course people will do what they always do in these times. They will seek the personal and collective shamanistic healing, the mystical knowing. They will have entheogenic experience.
There is always the possibility of the devil's the demi-urge's temptation in these shamanistic voyages, these quests for the personal and collective, sacred, healing grail.
Many are told that they are the one – the way that Neo and Luke Skywalker are the ones in the Matrix and Star War movies; perhaps the way that Ahab is the one in Herman Melville's "Moby Dick."
It all comes down to posture – the way you hold yourself, in the face of the great, white, unknowable mystery from which the human comes; to which the human goes; the mystery that surrounds and pervades the human circumstances.
These times are definitely not the time for a posture of narcissistic chosen-ness, of little, grasping ego projection into the face of the great mystery.
In that direction lays madness.
In these times when it seems like the great vessel of the United States of America is being captained by fucking lunatics, that the "Pequod," of our national soul (see "The Righteous Mutiny" at www.libbyhome.blogspot.com) is going down – it is the time to hold ourselves like Ismael.
We must go wherever the entheogenic doors open to without fearful, anxious anticipations, expectations. The only expectation you should have is – you will be surprised about where the wondrous, transcendent doors will open to.
Seek the grail that contains our personal and collective healing. What choice do we have but to do this. But do not put expectations, anticipations on what will be arrived at in this sacred, shamanistic quest.
And it is about posture. How you stand and embrace the great mystical one-ness which is by definition a mystery – the mystical one-ness that transcends understanding.
It is about Being that One.
