There is an un-broken spiritual continuity between the Mayans of the present day and the Mayans of the classic age in the 5th Century.
Just as Yeshua ben Yosef emerged, represented a continuous Jewish-Gnostic continuity - a revolutionary, heretical spiritual practice - whatever is happening here in Chiapas is emerging from a similar, parallel spiritual mode.
In 1945 the Nag Hammodi Gnostic Library was discovered in Egypt. The Gnostic context that Yeshua emerged from and advanced was revealed in spite of organized Christianities best efforts to burn the books, and kill the receivers of the message - the real good news. Many Christians speak of a second coming. The real message did not come and was not received a first time. For 1,600 years organized Christianity made the ultimate not-business-as-usual into the ultimate business-as-usual - the state religion of the Roman Empire.
In this generation the code of the Mayan Glyphs has been broken defying the best efforts of the Inquisition to burn the Mayan books and kill the receivers of the Mayan spiritual message
It is as if a kind of buried, concealed-in-plain-sight Celestine Prophecy has been revealed in this generation. A message of the god-like quantum potential of the human, instruction on the manifesting of a transcendent human reality.
This is what we find the Mayan first ancestors, the great Mayan culture heroes are always doing once we are able to read the glyphs on public monuments. And like Yeshua the Mayans who become God are always saying behold what has been done already - you can do even greater more wondrous things.
Sub-commandante Marcos came again to San Cristobal on Wednesday, January 4. This time without his army of masked, unarmed men, women, children, old people. It was a much more subdued event. Much like a business-as-usual political thing.
It began in the late afternoon with groups of singing camposinos marching through the streets in what by all appearances were religious processions. The fact that the people were carrying banners with slogans referring to ´La Otra Companera´ - The Other Country - didn´t give a clue that it was a political thing rather than a religious thing. The songs sounded spiritual rather than political.
They marched to the central plaza of the Church of San Cristobal de las Casas. There an always masked Marcos shook hands, kissed babies, and gave a short very political speech. Again there were no uniformed Mexican police or army in the plaza.
Marcos spoke of the big inclusive tent that will be the new leftist coalition. How this new leftist coalition will be the end of politics-as-usual in Mexico. How the march that he is leading will not stop in Mexico City - will go all the way to Tijuana (Which prompted my new friend Geronomo to ask: Why stop there? Why not keep on going to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle - there´s no shortage of Mexicanos, Mexicanas in any of those places.)
Marcos spoke of people claiming to be leftists who are candidates for the presidency of Mexico. But Marcos says these people are business-as-usual political hacks who will maintain the status quo.
He says the coalition, la otra companera is not-business-as-usual. The only alternative to business-as-usual.
There is not-business-as-usual happening in Chiapas.
La Other Country is spread over the face of the world - if you can only see IT.
