The castles of Europe are often picturesque. And yet as far as being
defensive strongholds they are feeble things when compared with the
nuclear-blast resistant missile bases or military communication
centers in the middle of North America.
These massive, structures of cement and steel, deeply embedded in the
vast expanses of the American prairie are the most indestructible
Humans have ever devised and built.
They will be here long after the castles of Europe have crumbled to
dust. They will abide as monuments to the most intense,
constellation/realization of the Archetype of Apocalypse.
Many of the sites are no longer military installations. They have
become private, not-business-as-usual (n-b-a-u) real estate. And with
news of the disintegration of Pakistan and the possibility of
jihadists seizing nuclear weapons, and world pandemic, these sites are
again massively, magnetically, attracting the energy which is being
co-opted by the Archetype of Apocalypse.
Sometimes when I think of growing up in the depths, in the dark chill
of the Cold War I find mySelf saying - did that really happen? Did the
Human Condition, the Human Circumstances, get so weird, go so far
astray.
And yet, when you stand in the place where an intercontinental missile
was poised to deliver a hydrogen bomb to the biggest cities in the
Soviet Union with no other purpose than to kill at least 10 million
people per launch - then you realize there are no limits to how weird,
how far astray the Human Condition, the Human Circumstances can go.
Preparations for the nuclear annihilation were done in secrecy. But
all the covert measures the United States took never stopped the
Soviets from getting the secret of the atomic bomb, the hydrogen bomb,
the multiple re-entry war heads.
And what was done in secrecy is now shouted from the rooftops.
It was all about no nuclear war contractor being left behind. It was
all about the fulfillment of every bit of the nuclear war
corporations' agenda. It was about creating a state of perpetual war,
perpetual terror so a small group of people could realize obscene
profits like has never been seen before.
It was about politicians running for public office on the missile gap,
claiming that the Soviets were far better nuclear armed than we were,
and we had to do something about it, now.
In fact the Soviet missiles, the Soviet nuclear bombs, were much like
Soviet manufactures in general. The missiles couldn't hit the side of
a continent. The bombs were probably duds.
The C.I.A. knew this. And yet they would grossly overestimate Soviet
capabilities to justify the expenditure of billions and billions and
billion so that no nuclear war contractor was left behind, so that no
aspect of the nuclear war contractors agenda was left unfulfilled, so
that a small group of people could make obscene profits like the world
has never seen.
This was the business-as-usual (b-a-u) of the Cold War.
What has yet to be done with these decommissioned sites in the heart
of the North American continent, which have become n-b-a-u real
estate, is to do this ultimate defining, presentation of the message
of what these sites were really about.
And in the doing of this they will become the most important monuments
- which will force people to examine how weird, how far astray the
Human Condition, the Human Circumstances can go.
And then maybe - we won't go there.
